Acupuncture for health and fitness

Jul. 6th, 2006 | 11:51 am

Acupuncture, is gradually becoming one of the most sought after treatments for a number of diseases and ailments, proving to be one of the most effective of healers and pain relievers.

Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese therapy where thin, sterile, stainless steel pins are pierced at specific points on the body, depending upon the type of disease and the extent of pain felt. Over the years, acupuncture has been extremely successful in curing a wide range of illness such as headache, neck pain, backache as well as major diseases like cancer, arthritis etc., to a great extent.

The most important asset to a human being is good health. Being fit is very essential to lead a normal and healthy life. Acupuncture is not only a good healer, but is also a good preventive medicine. Studies show that acupuncture releases the naturally occurring opiates of the body, endorphins and enkephalin, which influences the central nervous system and helps in release of endorphins from the brain. It improves the circulation inside the body and also balances the energy within, thus strengthening it. Normally, the body is kept disease-free by ensuring that there is the right amount of vital energy or “chi” flowing through specific points of the body. If the energy amount is not accurate, then it is reduced or increased accordingly with the help of acupuncture. This maintains the balance in the body and hence it is kept fit and healthy. It stimulates and activates the body immune and healing systems too.

Acupuncture - don't be afraid of needles

Jun. 14th, 2006 | 11:12 am

Over the ages, Acupuncture, the ancient Chinese technique of healing has been proved to relieve pain in an effective manner. Known to be one of the greatest healers, acupuncture has been able to cure diseases like liver cancer, alzheimer’s disease, chronic pain, headache, back pain, skin diseases and a number of other ailments by increasing the functioning of various organs by enhancing the natural healing capacity of the body.

The process is carried out by inserting extremely thin, fine, stainless steel needles into the human body to a depth of a few millimeters at specific acupuncture points and then removing them after about 20 minutes. The precise explanation as to how pricking some needles at visibly unrelated points can cure even diseases which had been believed to be incurable cannot be given, but it is believed that channels of energy, know as meridians, run or flow through the body and when these meridians are obstructed by diseases, they need to be unblocked, and this job of unblocking is done by acupuncture by correcting the imbalances.

Even though acupuncture has had a far greater success ratio in curing diseases than most of the other healing methods, it has not gained popularity amongst many due to the delusion that the acupuncture needles are painful. The acupuncture pins are thin and smooth and hence their insertion into the skin does not cause any pain, unlike the injection needles or blood testing needles, which are hollow. Contrary to common belief, most acupuncture patients say that they feel very slight pain and that too only during the insertion of needles, and the rest report that they feel no pain at all. Survey tells us that many patients in fact feel that acupuncture is not only painless, but also relaxing, pleasant and spreads a soothing feeling too.

Acupuncture is completely painless and can yield amazing results, when handled by a skilled practitioner. If you are suffering from an ailment that can be cured by acupuncture, but fear the needles, then put away your fear and contact the nearest acupuncture specialist right now.

Acupuncture - a Face-Lift Alternative

May. 17th, 2006 | 03:07 pm

When Diane wanted to improve her skin, but not by invasive or radical means, the 60-year-old woman sought facial rejuvenation acupuncture, which focuses on erasing some of the fine lines and tightening up the face without surgery. Diane said she wanted to specifically treat her neck, eyes and lines around her mouth.

There is now a non surgical procedure that helps rejuvenate appearances. An acupuncturist put dozens of tiny stainless steel needles into Diane's skin from head to toe. "It works by stimulating the body to produce collagen in the skin, in the fine lines and wrinkles and helps the skin to plump up and stay in place”, says the acupuncturist. Diane then relaxed for 20 minutes before the needles came out. Diane underwent a total of 10 treatments, coming in twice a week for a total of $1,200.

She looks a little smoother, refreshed and younger and she says that her skin feels tighter. And among the many benefits, acupuncture also helps reduce stress.

The world turns to acupuncture

Mar. 8th, 2006 | 01:59 pm

Acupuncture is already popular in Europe and Asia. With the increasing success of Acupuncture, over 15 million Americans have now turned to Alternative Medicine.

Alternative medicine, which is basically Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), offers a wide variety of techniques to diagnose and treat many diseases, by addressing the unique health conditions of each patient. According to Chinese medical theory, the presence of any pain or illness is an indication that the energy, which flows through the body, is weakened or obstructed. Acupuncture and Herbal medicine can help alleviate pain and illness, relieve stress and strengthen your immune system.

Acupuncture literally means "needle piercing". An acupuncture practitioner inserts very fine needles into the skin to stimulate specific anatomic points in the body (called acupoints). 100% sterile, disposable needles are used to eliminate the risk of disease transmission. Acupuncture helps the energy to flow into areas where it is deficient and to flow away from areas where it is in excess. By balancing the energy flow, the body is able to make self-adjustments to promote health.
